SH DAP12V Diaphragm Air Pump

The SH-DAP12V is an oil-free diaphragm air pump built for medical devices, laboratory instruments and industrial automation. It runs on 12 V DC, draws 6.5 W and measures 45 dB(A) at 1 m, so it drops into blood pressure monitors, gas sampling equipment and beauty devices without adding noise or lubricant to the airstream. As a diaphragm air pump manufacturer established in 2008, we ship to 40+ countries from a plant with an annual capacity of 1.2 million units, and we customize voltage, flow, connectors and diaphragm material for OEM projects.

The diaphragm separates the motor and bearings from the air path. That single design choice is why medical and analytical designers pick a diaphragm air pump over a lubricated piston type: there is no oil to carry over into a sensor, a cuff or a sample line.

Noise in a diaphragm air pump comes down to the details. An optimized eccentric mechanism and a vibration-damping mount keep vibration acceleration below 0.5 g, and the 45 dB(A) figure was measured at 1 m in a room with background noise under 30 dB. Low-noise pumps usually use softer diaphragms and tuned valves, which costs a little free flow, so always check the curve at your own working pressure.

On life: at rated voltage and load, our diaphragm air pump life tests run past 8,000 hours with performance degradation under 10%. MTBF is a reliability statistic, not a promise for every unit, and continuous full-load operation in a hot enclosure will shorten it. Warranty period: [insert warranty period].

How a Diaphragm Air Pump Works

A motor turns an eccentric or connecting-rod mechanism, which moves an elastic diaphragm up and down. On the downward stroke the inlet valve opens and the outlet valve closes, so air is drawn into the chamber. On the upward stroke the valves swap roles and the air is pushed out. Repeat that cycle continuously and the diaphragm air pump delivers steady flow.

In any diaphragm air pump, the parts that decide flow stability, noise and life are the drive motor, the eccentric or connecting rod, the diaphragm, the inlet and outlet valve plates, the pump head and the housing.

Diaphragm and Valve Materials

EPDM: –20 °C to 120 °C, good resistance for general air and neutral gases, best cost-performance balance.

FKM (fluoroelastomer): –15 °C to 200 °C, strong resistance to oils and aggressive chemicals, a fit for organic solvents or hot gases.

Silicone: flexible, good at low temperature, and the usual choice for medical and beauty equipment.

PTFE: excellent chemical resistance but low elasticity, used for highly corrosive media.

Every material is a trade-off between temperature range, chemical compatibility, life and cost. The standard SH-DAP12V diaphragm and valve material is [confirm: EPDM / silicone / other]. If your device has patient contact and needs a specific standard such as ISO 10993 or USP Class VI, tell us at the quotation stage and we will confirm the material grade.

Where the SH-DAP12V Diaphragm Air Pump Fits

Medical and healthcare. Blood pressure monitors and negative-pressure systems need clean air and quiet running. For a medical diaphragm air pump, oil-free construction and a stable vacuum matter most, and silicone diaphragm options are common.

Laboratory and analytical instruments. In gas sampling and analyzers, flow stability counts for more than peak flow. Test the diaphragm air pump with your sample line and inlet filter installed, because that is the back pressure it will actually see, and ask us for the measured curve of the diaphragm air pump before you freeze the design.

Air sampling and environmental monitoring. Sampling runs can last hours or days. For a sampling diaphragm air pump, a continuous duty rating (ambient up to 40 °C) and a high MTBF matter more than a headline flow figure.

Beauty and personal care. Quiet, small, low power. A miniature oil-free diaphragm air pump suits handheld devices where battery size is tight.

Industrial automation and packaging. These jobs ask for steadier pressure and better vibration resistance. If the 80 kPa of this diaphragm air pump is not enough, ask about a higher-pressure version.

FAQ

Q: What is a diaphragm air pump and how does it differ from a piston pump?

A: A diaphragm air pump moves gas with the reciprocating motion of an elastic membrane, so the air path stays oil-free and the running noise is low. Piston pumps use a sliding seal and generally deliver more flow and pressure. Lubricated types can carry oil into the airstream, and even dry-running piston types tend to be louder and wear faster because of that sliding contact.

Q: How long does a diaphragm air pump last?

A: Under rated conditions a good diaphragm air pump reaches an MTBF of 8,000 hours or more. Real life depends on load, temperature, media and duty cycle, and continuous full-load running shortens it.

Q: Can a diaphragm air pump run continuously?

A: Most models support continuous duty when the ambient temperature stays at or below 40 °C. In hotter enclosures or under overload, add cooling or run the diaphragm air pump intermittently.

Q: How do I choose the right flow rate and pressure for my application?

A: Find your operating point (flow plus back pressure) on the performance curve, then allow a 10–20% margin. Temperature and altitude also change how a diaphragm air pump performs, so mention both when you send your requirements.

Q: Why is my diaphragm air pump losing suction or getting noisy?

A: The usual suspects are an aging diaphragm, worn valve plates, a clogged inlet filter or a leak somewhere in the tubing. Check the filter and the seals first, then replace wear parts on schedule.

Q: Which diaphragm material should I choose for chemicals or high temperature?

A: For high temperature or aggressive chemicals, choose FKM or PTFE for the diaphragm. EPDM suits general air and neutral gases. Silicone is the usual pick for medical and beauty devices.

Q: Can you customize the voltage, flow rate and connectors? What is the MOQ?

A: Yes. Voltage, flow, pressure, ports, cables and appearance of our diaphragm air pump can all be customized. Samples start at 1–5 units, and the small-batch MOQ is 500 units.
